TCGrader Marketplace Launch: Buy and Sell Graded Cards
We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the TCGrader Marketplace, a dedicated platform for buying and selling trading cards with built-in AI grading and buyer protection. This has been one of our most requested features, and we have built it from the ground up to address the biggest pain points in online card trading.
Why We Built the Marketplace
The trading card community deserves better options for buying and selling cards online. The existing landscape has significant problems that we set out to solve.
The trust problem: Buying cards from strangers online requires a leap of faith. Is the card really in the condition the seller claims? Is it even authentic? Existing platforms offer limited condition verification, leaving buyers to rely on seller descriptions and photos that may not tell the whole story.
The protection problem: When a transaction goes wrong on many platforms, buyers are left fighting for refunds through complicated dispute processes. Sellers face chargebacks and fraudulent returns. Neither side feels adequately protected.
The information problem: Most marketplace listings include only photos and a seller's condition description. Buyers have no independent condition data to verify claims or make informed purchasing decisions.
The TCGrader Marketplace addresses all three of these problems with a combination of AI technology and smart transaction design.
Key Features
AI-Graded Listings
Every card listed on the TCGrader Marketplace can include an AI grade from our grading system. This gives buyers independent condition data for every listing, not just the seller's subjective description. You can see the overall grade and sub-grades for centering, corners, edges, and surface before you buy.
This transparency benefits sellers too. When your cards have verified AI grades, buyers have more confidence in their purchases, leading to faster sales and fewer disputes.
Escrow Payment Protection
Our marketplace uses an escrow payment system powered by Stripe. Here is how it works:
- Buyer pays: When you purchase a card, your payment is processed and held securely by the platform
- Seller ships: The seller is notified of the sale and ships the card with tracking
- Buyer receives: When the card arrives, the buyer has a window to inspect and verify the purchase
- Funds released: Once the buyer confirms satisfaction (or after the verification period), funds are released to the seller
This escrow system protects buyers from fraud and non-delivery while protecting sellers from payment reversals. Both parties can transact with confidence.
Integrated Messaging
Every transaction includes a built-in messaging thread between buyer and seller. No need to exchange personal contact information or move conversations to other platforms. Discuss shipping details, ask questions about the card, or resolve any concerns directly within the platform.
Shipping Tracking Integration
When a seller ships a card, they enter the tracking number directly in the transaction page. Both parties can monitor shipping progress, and our system uses Ship24 integration to provide real-time tracking updates. The buyer knows exactly when to expect their card, and the seller has proof of shipment.
How It Works for Sellers
Getting started as a seller is straightforward.
Step 1: List your card. Upload photos, add details (card name, set, condition), and set your price. Optionally, grade your card with our AI for a verified condition assessment.
Step 2: Wait for a sale. Your listing is visible to all TCGrader users. Interested buyers can make offers or purchase at your listed price.
Step 3: Ship the card. When a sale is confirmed, package the card safely and ship it with tracking. Enter the tracking number on the transaction page.
Step 4: Get paid. Once the buyer receives and verifies the card, your funds are released. Payments are transferred to your connected Stripe account.
How It Works for Buyers
Step 1: Browse listings. Search and filter listings by card name, set, condition, price, and category. Review AI grades to assess condition independently.
Step 2: Buy or make an offer. Purchase at the listed price or submit an offer for the seller to consider.
Step 3: Track your shipment. Monitor shipping progress through the transaction page with real-time tracking updates.
Step 4: Verify and confirm. When your card arrives, inspect it and confirm the transaction. If there is an issue, open a dispute through the platform.
Seller Fees and Pricing
We have designed our fee structure to be competitive and transparent. The platform charges a small percentage fee on completed sales that covers payment processing, escrow service, and platform maintenance. There are no listing fees and no monthly subscription required.
Safety and Trust
We take marketplace safety seriously. Every seller on the platform is verified, every transaction is protected by escrow, and AI grading provides independent condition verification. Our dispute resolution process is designed to be fair to both parties.
For buyers: Your payment is protected until you receive and verify your purchase. If the card does not match the listing, you can dispute and receive a refund.
For sellers: Escrow protects you from payment reversals. Once the buyer confirms (or the verification period expires), your payment is final.
