The same four attributes professional graders assess

Centering

Pixel-accurate border measurement, front and back. The silent grade-killer on vintage cards — our data shows it is the most common factor capping otherwise-mint cards.

Corners

All four corners inspected at high magnification, front and back. Back corners hide most of the whitening that surprises collectors at grading time.

Edges

Whitening, chipping and wear along every edge — the hardest attribute to self-assess without magnification.

Surface

Scratches, print lines, holo wear and indentations, including angled-light analysis for holographic cards — the #1 surprise downgrade on modern holos.

What 93,000 graded cards taught us

Collectors grade the cards they believe are their best — and even then, four in five fall short of gem mint. That gap is exactly why pre-grading before paying professional fees pays for itself.

AI card grading FAQ

How accurate is AI card grading?+

TCGrader uses two independent AI models that analyze centering, corners, edges and surface from your photos — the same four attributes professional graders assess. Across 93,000+ cards graded on our platform, results closely track professional grading standards, and every grade includes a confidence score and per-attribute sub-grades so you can see exactly why a card scored the way it did. AI grading is a pre-grade: it predicts the professional outcome from photos, but cannot replace in-hand checks like card thickness.

Is there a free AI card grading app?+

Yes — TCGrader gives every new account one free AI grade, no card details required. After that, grades cost from £0.99 as one-off credits, or £9.99/month for 25 grades on the Collector plan. TCGrader runs in your browser on any phone or computer, so there is nothing to install.

How does AI grading compare to PSA grading?+

PSA grading costs roughly $15–25 per card and takes weeks; AI grading costs pennies and takes about 30 seconds. They serve different purposes: AI pre-grading tells you which cards are WORTH sending to PSA. Across our data, only about 19% of cards collectors chose to grade reached the gem-mint band — pre-grading first means you only pay professional fees for cards with real 9.5+ potential.

Which cards can TCGrader grade?+

Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Disney Lorcana and sports cards. The AI identifies the card from your photos, grades it, links it to our price catalog, and shows current raw and graded market values.

What do I get with each grade?+

An overall grade on the 1–10 scale, sub-grades for centering, corners, edges and surface (plus holographic analysis on full grades), an estimated professional grade, detected defects with locations, a shareable graded-slab image, and market price data for the card at different grades.
